
Access and Training for Journal Processing, OPTRS, Research Administration System and Effort Reporting
Who is required to take training?
- Online Journal Processing training is required for all journal preparers and approvers.
- Online Payroll Time Reporting System (OPTRS) training is required for all payroll preparers and PAN reviewers. Preparers must complete OLPPS Inquiry & Entry/Update classroom training prior to taking OPTRS training.
- RAS Post-Award training is required for all research services analysts (RSAs) who manage the Research Administration System (RAS) post-award process. Click here for information on RAS Proposal Express access and training.
- Effort Reporting training is required for all Effort Reporting Coordinators, Reviewers and Viewers.
Step 1: Complete required training eCourse
- Log in to the UC Learning Center.
- In the Search box on the Home page, type one or two key words of the ecourse name and click GO.For example:
• “Online Journal”
• “OPTRS”
• “RAS Post”
• “Effort”- Click
to the left of the ecourse name. Click
to complete the registration.
- Click
to the left of the activity name to launch the activity.
- Each ecourse consists of several activities or topics and one quiz of multiple choice and true/false questions. Depending upon the training course, it will take approximately 1 ½ - 4 hours to complete. You must complete all modules plus the quiz to complete the course.
Step 2: Gain system access
- Notify your Department Manager that you have completed the training. If necessary, print the Certificate of Completion at the end of the course.
- Your Department Manager notifies your department’s Access Administrator to request access to the appropriate system.
